961 is looking to hire news reporters to join 961's news team, 961News, to cover breaking news and stories.

961News will become 961's dedicated news site covering daily and critical news, as well as investigative and accountability journalism.

The writer will play a pivotal role in our daily operations and local coverage by breaking exclusive stories that are relevant to readers. We’re looking for an experienced journalist who has a passion for news and politics. They should be excited to cover breaking news stories in real-time.


  • Pitching, writing, and editing news articles.
  • Publish at least 7 articles per day.
  • Be able to write in an active and conversational tone.
  • Be able to contact relevant parties to obtain/verify information and incorporate their comments, as applicable.
  • Breaking news and getting exclusive interviews.
  • Ensuring all information is properly cited and factually accurate
  • Be able to explain concepts/news in a simple and concise manner.
  • Collaborate with other 961 team members as applicable.


  • At least 6 months of experience as a news reporter or journalist.
  • Fluent in English. This is an English-first position. As well as Lebanese/Arabic.
  • A degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field is an asset but not required.
  • A knack for headline writing and understanding of what makes content compelling and shareable.
  • Able to meet tight deadlines
  • Deep knowledge of what is happening in Lebanon
  • Available to work a flexible, full-time schedule with occasional weekends and evenings required as needed.

The position:

Immediate vacancy as we enter election season. This is a permanent position based in Lebanon.

In-person work at our HQ in Jal el Dib is preferred. If, due to the transportation issues this is absolutely not a possibility, hybrid or remote may be accommodated.
