961 is inviting passionate and dedicated news writers for our internship program.

You will be working on one of 961's newest sections called 961News - covering breaking news and politics relevant to our young Lebanese audience.

You will gain hands-on experience in the high-speed environment alongside our News Reporters covering the latest news and being part of covering the long-awaited Lebanese parliamentary elections.

Who we are:

961 is Lebanon's leading English digital news and media outlet. We're an independently-owned media outlet, one of the very few in Lebanon.

Our articles were read nearly 10 million times by 3.6 million users directly on our site just in 2020 alone. Our social content has reached tens of millions of people.

We're the go-to source for all things guides, entertainment, and news about Lebanon for the Gen-Z and Millenial Lebanese.

Responsibilities:

  • Researching and writing timely articles
  • Publishing an average of 7 articles per shift
  • Be able to write in an active and conversational tone.
  • Be able to contact relevant parties to obtain/verify the information and incorporate their comments, as applicable.
  • Producing content in an engaging way
  • Making sure all information is properly cited and factually accurate
  • Maintaining high-quality work while meeting ambitious goals
  • Collaboratively working with our team members and the editors to make sure we are the best source for millennial content in Lebanon

About the position:

We are offering both full-time and part-time placements. Please note days and timing could be flexible for the individual intern to meet their schooling and/or work schedule requirements.

The internship is unpaid. However, our media team is rapidly growing and interns have priority for our full-time and paid positions

The position is Hybrid. You have the choice of working from home and/or the office. We may ask you to come in for the elections - including the day/night of.
